More than 60 jobseekers from 21 different area cities attended a career fair that was held by Goldens’ Foundry and Machine Co. on South Georgia Technical College’s Crisp County Center in Cordele recently. The career fair was held on Sept. 20 and sought to fill several third shift (7:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.) positions in five different areas.

Available positions at the fair included grinders, mechanical and electrical maintenance, CNC operators and production line workers.

A total of 62 attendees applied and participated on on-site interviews for positions at Goldens’ Foundry, a ductile iron and gray iron foundry that has a location in Cordele and a headquarters in Columbus, Ga.

Two representatives from the company, as well as a representative from the Georgia Department of Labor, were on hand to assist, meet and discuss the positions with applicants.

The GDOL, which was a sponsor of the event, worked with South Georgia Technical College and Goldens’ to ensure that the event could be free and open to the public.

“I believe it was a very successful event for Goldens’ Foundry,” Mark Lewis from the GDOL said in an email.  “They were very pleased with the applicants to start their new 3rd shift.”
