Seventeen Complete Advanced EMT Program at South Georgia Tech
South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently honored 17 graduates of its Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) program during a pinning ceremony held in the LaPorte Auditorium at the college’s Crisp County Center. The event was attended by more than 50 family members and friends, who gathered to celebrate the students’ accomplishments.
Instructors Chad Mays and Brittany Bertelson led the ceremony, recognizing the students for their dedication and hard work throughout the semester. Mays served as the keynote speaker, commending the class for their teamwork and perseverance.
“This group truly bonded over the course of the semester,” said Mays. “They supported one another through the challenges of both the classroom and clinicals. Brittany and I are very proud of each and every one of them.”
Students recognized in the ceremony were Brody Barnes of Parrott, Rebekah Bowen of Byromville, Roger Hall of Sylvester, Sebrina Hicks of Dawson, Matthew Holden of Weston, Melanie Hosford of Reynolds, Dykerius Howard of Albany, Tiffany James of Ellaville, Braxton Jones of Ellaville, Aaron Long of Parrott, Abigail Patterson of Unadilla, Samantha Poisson of Montezuma, Todd Poisson of Montezuma, James Purvis of Sylvester, Dillan Tunney of Americus, Joseph Warren of Vienna, and Samuel Williamson of Albany.
Over the duration of the program, the class logged more than 1,700 hours of clinical experience. As part of their hands-on training, students started 205 IVs, administered 181 medications, and had over 600 patient contacts.
The AEMT program prepares students to provide advanced levels of pre-hospital emergency care, and graduates are equipped with the skills needed to serve their communities as highly trained first responders.
