South Georgia Technical College Academic Deans Dr. David Finley and Brett Murray recently hosted a “Meet the Dean” reception in the Morgan Diesel and Automotive Complex on the Americus campus. The event welcomed students from across campus to engage directly with academic leadership in an informal setting, promoting open conversation, student feedback, and stronger connections between faculty and the student body.

During the reception, students had the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences, and learn more about how the college supports them both inside and outside the classroom. Dr. Finley and Dean Murray discussed the range of resources available to help students succeed—from academic advising and tutoring services to leadership opportunities, career preparation, and mentoring programs. The event was designed to make the college’s support systems more accessible while encouraging students to advocate for themselves and take full advantage of what SGTC has to offer.

The deans emphasized the college’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered environment that meets the needs of learners from all backgrounds. By creating space for personal connection and open dialogue, SGTC continues to strengthen the sense of community that is essential to academic and professional success.
