Air Evac Lifeteam, the largest independently owned and operated membership-supported air ambulance service in the United States, conducted a training with South Georgia Technical College Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) students recently on the Americus campus.

Brad Harnum, SGTC EMT instructor, invited Air Evac to come and talk with students about the Air Evac Air Flight service and to demonstrate safe practices for air ambulance transport. Bryan Barnes and Alana Jernigan were the Air Evac flight crew members who helped with the demonstrations. They both serve as SGTC EMT adjunct instructors.

Barnes and Jernigan taught students how to set up a landing zone for a helicopter and showed students how to safely approach a helicopter. The students also practiced moving each other on a spine board from the stretcher to the helicopter.
