Chattahoochee-Flint RESA Science Fair Held at SGTC Crisp County Center
South Georgia Technical College recently hosted the annual Chattahoochee-Flint RESA Science Fair at the SGTC Crisp County Center in Cordele, welcoming students from across the region to showcase their scientific discoveries and creative problem-solving skills.
More than 60 student projects were presented during the event, representing seven school districts served by Chattahoochee-Flint RESA. Participating districts included Chattahoochee County, Clay County, Crisp County, Dooly County, Furlow Charter School, Southwest Georgia STEM Charter School, and Sumter County Schools. Students in grades five through eight competed in the fair, presenting projects that ranged from plant science experiments to engineering and design challenges.
According to organizers, the auditorium was filled with curiosity and excitement as students confidently explained their research, demonstrated experiments, and answered questions from judges. The projects highlighted the students’ creativity, critical thinking, and ability to apply STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts to real-world questions.
Heidi Goodin, STEM Coordinator and Instructional Technology Specialist with Chattahoochee-Flint RESA, helped coordinate the event and expressed appreciation for the continued partnership with South Georgia Technical College.
“We are grateful to South Georgia Technical College for always partnering with Chattahoochee-Flint RESA and opening their doors to create opportunities for students, teachers, and the surrounding school districts,” said Goodin.
Community members, educators, and family members attended the fair to support the students and serve as judges for the projects. Organizers noted that the enthusiasm and confidence demonstrated by the young scientists and engineers made the event a tremendous success.
