Former SGTC student Wins National Pageant
Ashley Rodgers, a 2016 graduate of South Georgia Technical College and a resident of Macon County, was crowned Ms. Elegance International 2023-24 during the American Elegance National/International Pageant Finals held recently in EastnPeoria, Illinois.
Rodgers, a marketing major, was selected as South Georgia Technical College’s GOAL (Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership) winner in 2016 and was also recognized as the Georgia GOAL winner. She represented South Georgia Tech and the Technical College System of Georgia speaking about the value of technical education throughout the year.
Rodgers represented Ireland Heritage in the International Division during the 25th Annual National/International Pageant that was held at the Embassy Suites. Delegates from across the United States competed for five National Titles and one International Title in five competition categories: Interview, Fashion Wear, Personal Expression, Evening Gown and On-Stage Question.
Rogers used this platform at Internationals to speak on the importance of Technical Education and how it will change the future of providing a skilled work-force in a time where there are hundreds of thousands of positions available.
Born in Hawkinsville, Ashley was raised in Macon County, Georgia. She is a proud graduate of Macon County High School, South Georgia Technical College and Middle Georgia State University. As an advocate of mental health and early detection of scoliosis, Ashley intends on utilizing her year as Ms. Elegance International to promote both platforms and to encourage more women and young girls to discover the benefits of participating in pageantry.
During the pageant, Ashley Rodgers also won an award for Best Personal Expression, Best Overall Heritage Wear, Best Program Book Photogenic, Gold Star Award and Best Fashion Wear in the International division.
