Hollis named Assistant to SGTC Vice President of Academic Affairs
Melissa Hollis of Americus has joined South Georgia Technical College as the full-time Administrative Assistant to Julie Partain, Vice President of Academic Affairs. She will be located on the SGTC Americus campus.
“On behalf of everyone at South Georgia Technical College, I would like to welcome Melissa Hollis to the college as a full-time employee,” said South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford. “We are very pleased that she is joining the academic affairs team and believe that she will be a valuable asset to the college and students.”
Hollis has a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration with Management Concentration from the University of Phoenix in Ontario, CA. She has worked with the federal government in different capacities for nearly 20 years.
She was employed with the Department of Defense as a Management and Program Analyst (GS9) prior to joining SGTC. She also worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs for 10 years in Administration and the United State Navy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate. She is a veteran of the United States Navy and has an active security clearance.
As the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Hollis will be performing a variety of tasks and assignments associated with support functions for the Vice President of Academic Affairs including entering data from forms, records, and reports into computer systems to maintain databases, and utilizing complex software to complete assignments. She will also coordinate meetings and management activities, handle administrative tasks related to budget, procurement, contracts, inventory control, personnel, safety, security, and records in addition to all other duties as assigned.
