Jets fall to 20th ranked Tallahassee State College
Tallahassee, FL – The 20th nationally ranked Tallahassee State College Eagles ended the South Georgia Technical College Jets two-game winning streak when they rolled to a 79 – 66 victory in Tallahassee, Monday. The Jets are now 3 – 8 on the season.
Tallahassee jumped out to an early lead and were up 38 – 26 at the end of the first half. The Jets rallied in the second half and narrowed the scoring deficit to only one point (40 – 41) but that still left them 13 points shy of a victory. Tallahassee moved to 10 – 1 with the victory. Tallahassee defeated the Jets 71 – 56 in November.
Three members of the Jets wound up in double-digits with sophomore Jalexs Ewing leading the way with 16 points and five rebounds. Freshman guard Jarius Davis was close behind with 13 points and then sophomore Matt Mbole came off the bench to toss in 10 points and pull down five rebounds.
Freshman wing Guilaume Schoentgen and sophomore Dwight Brown also came off the bench to toss in seven points and then sophomore Marc Ferdy wound up with six points. Sophomore Clark Mastin added four points and Ilich Yacaman closed out the scoring with three points. The SGTC bench contributed 30 points to the team’s overall 66 points on the night.
Offensively the Jets only made 21.1% of their three-point attempts and only hit 22 of 60 of their total field goals (36.6%) and were 16 of 25 (64%) from the foul line. Tallahassee was 10 of 28 (35.7%) from the three-point line and was 29 – 56 (51.5%) from the field. They were 11 of 21 from the foul line.
The Eagles had four players in double-digits with Elijah Guillory and Cedric Taylor tying for top honors with 17 points each.
The Jets will try to get back on the winning track this weekend when they travel to Swainsboro, GA for the East Georgia State Classic. They will open up against Brunswick Community College at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 6th and then face Richard Bland College on Saturday at 1 p.m. That will wind up the 2025 portion of their season. They will not play again until January 3rd at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville at 3 p.m. before returning home for a game against Central Georgia Tech on January 7th in a double-header. The Lady Jets open at 5:30 followed by the Jets at 7:30 p.m.
