NTHS Held Induction Ceremony for New Members

South Georgia Technical College’s Americus campus chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) inducted ten new members recently. The Fall 2017 new members participated in an induction ceremony that included a candle lighting, membership pledge, and a pinning ceremony.

Those who were inducted include Lauren Taylor Ard of Americus, Virgil Thomas Howell of Ellaville, Colyn Anthony Johnson of Nicholls, Mark Allen Miller of Canton, Bailey Judson Mills of Cordele, Eva Jean Porter of Buena Vista, Ashton Caroline Singletary of Americus, Carolyn LeAnn Tholen of Americus, Kathy Clemons Tookes of Americus, and Ronneka Latrice Tullis of Americus.

The 2017-2018 NTHS officers assisted NTHS Advisor Raven Payne with the candle lighting and pinning. Officers included Amber Chancellor of Ellaville and Mary Solis of Americus.

In order to receive this honor, students must be nominated by an instructor, be a full-time student at SGTC for at least one semester, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.7.

The student must also demonstrate leadership abilities and display a commendable attitude, good mentality, worthy character, credible achievement, and a desire to pursue a career in the field of his or her technical study.

The National Technical Honor Society honors the achievements of students within workforce education, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive workforce.
