Pamela Jordan Honored as Student of Excellence at SGTC

Pamela Jordan of Vienna recently earned recognition as South Georgia Technical College’s (SGTC) overall Student of Excellence for October. Jordan studies Cosmetology and was nominated by her instructor, Dorothea Lusane-McKenzie.

Each month, students from select divisions are nominated for the Student of Excellence award by their instructors. The Student of Excellence is chosen based on a number of criteria, including grades, work ethics, participation in clubs and organizations, and amount of program completion.

As the winner, Jordan was awarded a plaque of recognition, a personal letter of recommendation from SGTC President Dr. John Watford and a $50 check for her accomplishments. Additionally, her name will be displayed on SGTC’s digital marquee as well as inscribed on a plaque in Hicks Hall among previous Student of Excellence winners. 

“Since day one, Pamela has always had an amazing attitude,” Lusane-McKenize said of Jordan in her nominating remarks. “She’s eager to learn, disciplined, and responsible. She completes all her work with a smile.”

Upon receiving the award, Jordan remarked, “I’m very honored to be nominated by such a phenomenal instructor. I really want to thank Ms. McKenzie for everything she’s done to help me.”

Other nominees for the award were: Tredarrian Colbert of Americus, Barbering, nominated by Andre Robinson; Haley Lamberth of Ellaville, Criminal Justice, nominated by Teresa McCook; Morgan Brown of Americus, Culinary Arts, nominated by Ricky Watzlowick; Miracle McKeller of Ideal, Early Childhood Care & Education, nominated by Jaye Cripe; Kristy Tyus of Ellaville, Medical Assisting, nominated by Jeana Yawn; and Yolonda Forrester of Cuthbert, Practical Nursing, nominated by Christine Rundle. Each nominee was awarded with a nomination certificate and an exclusive student of excellence t-shirt.
