South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford announced that Stephanie Preskitt has been selected as the Human Resources Coordinator for the college and that Virgilia Edge of Americus has been hired as the Administrative Assistant for the Vice President of Student Affairs, effective immediately.  Preskitt will report to SGTC Vice President of Administrative Services Lea Coe and Edge will report to SGTC Vice President of Student Affairs Eulish Kinchens.

“On behalf of everyone at South Georgia Technical College, I would like to welcome Virgilia Edge as a new employee and also congratulate Stephanie Preskitt on her new position,” said SGTC President Dr. John Watford.  “Stephanie Preskitt has already proven to be an asset to the college and I am confident that Virgilia Edge will also be a valued member of our team in Student Affairs and the entire college.”

Stephanie Preskitt has been with South Georgia Technical College since February 2018.  She began her career with SGTC as a Human Resources Specialist with HR Director Sandy Larson.  Larson has accepted the position of Director of Administrative Services at SGTC and now Preskitt has been promoted to Human Resources Coordinator working directly under the Vice President of Administrative Services.

Prior to joining South Georgia Technical College, she was employed at Southwest Georgia Healthcare, Strickland Accounting, and Regional Eye Center working in several different capacities from bookkeeping and accounting to management and healthcare – all of which will help her in her new position.

As the Human Resources Coordinator, Preskitt’s responsibilities will include providing information to employees regarding the employment application and interviewing process; posting job announcements, providing information about employee benefits including flexible benefits, health benefits and open enrollment; reviewing and processing personnel and/or position transactions including coding for payroll, assisting with disciplinary actions, maintaining files and records, and completing required reports, as well as other duties as assigned.

Virgilia Edge comes to South Georgia Technical College from The Staffing People where she was an account manager.  She has been with The Staffing People since January of 2019.  She has also been employed at Aaron’s Sales & Lease, Phoebe Sumter Primary Care, Western Finance and 21st Century ASTEP.  She is a graduate of Americus-Sumter High School and earned an associate’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Grantham University online.  She has been active with the Restoration Church of Americus, Ameriyouth Outreach Committee and CASA.

As the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs, Edge will be performing a variety of tasks and assignments associated with support functions for the Vice President of Student Affairs including monitoring and maintaining supplies and equipment, entering data from forms, records, and reports, coordinating meetings and management activities, participating in special tasks, and all other duties as assigned.
