Program Overview
The Commercial Truck Driving certificate program provides basic training in the principles and skills of commercial truck operations. The program is based on the definition of a truck driver as one who operates a commercial motor vehicle of all different sizes and descriptions on all types of roads. At the completion of the program, the student is administered the Georgia CDL Skills Exam.

As a requirement for admission to the Commercial Truck Driving program, students must complete a physical examination and drug test.

CTDL 1010 Fundamentals of Comm Driving Fundamentals of Commercial Driving introduces students to the transportation industry, federal and state regulations, records and forms, industrial relations, and other non-driving activities. This course provides an emphasis on safety that will continue throughout the program.

CTDL 1020 Combin Vehicle Oper & Range Work This course familiarizes students with truck instruments and controls and performing basic maneuvers required to drive safely in a controlled environment and on the Driving Range. Each student must receive 12 hours behind the wheel (BTW) instructional time in range operations such as operating a tractor trailer through clearance maneuvers, backing, turning, parallel parking and coupling/uncoupling.

CTDL 1030 Combination Veh Adv Operations Advanced Operations develops students* driving skills under actual road conditions. The classroom part of the course stresses following safe operating practices. These safe operating practices are integrated into the development of driving skills on the road. Each student must receive at least twelve (12) hours behind-the-wheel (BTW) instructional time on the street/road. In addition the student must have a minimum program total of forty four (44) hours BTW instructional time in any combination (with CTDL 1020) of range and street/road driving. Note: state law requires that whenever a combination vehicle is operated on public roads an instructor must be present in the vehicle while the student is driving.

CTDL 1040 Commercial Driving Internship Commercial Driving Internship provides the opportunity for an individual to complete his/her training with a company. The internship takes the place of CTDL-1030, Advanced Operations. Working closely with the school a company provides the advanced training which focuses on developing students* driving skills. Each student must receive at least twelve (12) hours behind-the-wheel (BTW) instructional time on the street/road. In addition the student must have a minimum program total of forty-four (44) hours BTW instructional time in any combination (with CTDL 1020) or range and street/road driving. Note: State law requires that whenever a vehicle is operated on public roads an instructor must be present in the truck while the student is driving.
