Rotary Club of Americus Donates to SGTC’s Adult Education Efforts

The Rotary Club of Americus made a $500 contribution to South Georgia Technical College’s Adult Education efforts recently. Rotary Club of Americus President Gaynor Cheokas made the presentation to SGTC President Dr. John Watford recently.
The Rotary Club of Americus’ donation will be used to help defray the expenses of the South Georgia Technical College Summer GED graduation and reception.
Approximately 40 individuals from this area are scheduled to participate in the graduation ceremony and receive their General Equivalency Diploma this summer, explained South Georgia Technical College Academic Dean for Adult Education Lillie Ann Winn.
“On behalf of South Georgia Technical College and the SGTC Foundation, I would like to thank the Rotary Club of Americus for their support and for the partnership that we have formed,” said SGTC President Dr. John Watford. “The Rotary Club of Americus is a tremendous supporter of South Georgia Technical College and education. This contribution is an additional example of the Rotary Club of Americus’ commitment to education and to our community.”
Rotary Club of Americus President Gaynor Cheokas thanked Dr. Watford for everything that South Georgia Technical College is doing for this community and expressed her appreciation to the college for their work with adult learners.
