SGTC Air Conditioning Technology Advisory Committee Holds Spring Meeting
South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently hosted a meeting of the Air Conditioning Technology advisory committee on the Americus campus to review developments within the program and discuss current trends in the HVAC industry.
Air Conditioning Technology instructor Johnny Griffin presented updates on enrollment, recent program developments, student accomplishments, and community outreach activities. The meeting provided an opportunity for industry representatives to hear about the program’s progress and offer professional perspectives.
Committee members shared valuable feedback on possible curriculum improvements, new training and certification opportunities, advances in HVAC technology, and potential internship and employment pathways for students. They also discussed current workforce demands and typical salary ranges for graduates entering the field.
Participants included Bryan McMichael of Parker’s Heating and Air, Robert Blount of Albany Air, and Jimmy Enfinger of RHC Heating and Cooling. Representing SGTC were Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Melissa Hollis, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator Katrice Martin, WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai, Career Services Director Cynthia Carter, and Academic Dean Dr. David Finley.
Advisory committees play an important role in connecting SGTC with industry partners. Their guidance helps ensure programs remain aligned with real-world workplace expectations and that students graduate with the skills needed to succeed in their careers.
