SGTC Automotive Technology Advisory Committee Conducts Spring Meeting
The Automotive Technology Advisory Committee at South Georgia Technical College recently gathered in the Morgan Transportation Building on the Americus campus for its regular meeting to review program updates and discuss current trends shaping the automotive industry. The committee serves as an important connection between the college and industry professionals, helping ensure the program remains aligned with workforce demands.
Automotive Technology Instructor Brandon Dean shared information on enrollment growth, curriculum updates, student accomplishments, and community engagement efforts within the program.
Committee members provided valuable feedback on potential curriculum improvements, specialized training opportunities, emerging automotive technologies, and employment and internship pathways available to students. They also discussed current salary expectations for graduates entering the field.
Advisory committees play a critical role in keeping SGTC programs responsive to industry standards and technological advancements, helping ensure students graduate with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in today’s automotive workforce.
Attendees included David Miller and Jeremy Robinson from Miller Auto Parts, Henry L. Snipes from Lacy’s Paint and Body, John Beaver from Beaver Performance Racing and Spencer Metheny from Precision Automotive. SGTC faculty members Starlyn Sampson (Auto Collision Repair), adjunct automotive instructor Jacob Smith, and Kevin Beaver (Motorsports Vehicle Technology) as well as Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator Katrice Martin, WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai and Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Melissa Hollis also participated.
