SGTC Barbering Advisory Committee Focuses on Industry Trends and Student Success
South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently hosted a meeting of its barbering advisory committee on the Americus campus to review program progress and explore evolving trends in the barbering industry.
Comprised of seasoned professionals and SGTC faculty, the advisory committee plays a key role in strengthening the college’s barbering and cosmetology programs. During the meeting, Barbering instructor Andre Robinson provided updates on student enrollment, curriculum enhancements, community involvement, and notable student achievements.
Committee members contributed valuable insights on refining hands-on training and aligning instruction with current industry needs. They also shared input on job placement prospects and ways to better prepare graduates for successful careers in the field.
Attendees included Cliff Jordan of Xclusive Barbershop in Cordele, Brandon Price of Sophisticuts, and Greg Long of Long Cuts. Representing SGTC were adjunct barbering instructor Eric Rogers, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Alecia Pinckney, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator Katrice Martin, and Academic Dean Dr. David Finley.
Through continued collaboration with local industry experts, SGTC ensures that its programs stay up to date with workforce expectations and provide students with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in the barbering industry.
