SGTC Basketball Skills Clinic a big success
Approximately 30 youth between the ages of eight and 14 participated in the free South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Youth Basketball Skills Clinic held as part of SGTC’s Homecoming Celebration recently.
Both boys and girls participated in the two-hour clinic with the opportunity to learn elite skills from the South Georgia Technical College 2025 – 2026 Jets. The Jets players worked with the clinic participants on warm-up routines, dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive skills.
Each participant received a free long sleeve t-shirt, a certificate for participating in the event and 10 of the campers received a free autographed basketball signed by the 2025 – 2026 Jets and Lady Jets players and coaches. SGTC Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Stephen Birchfield organized the event.
The SGTC Basketball Skills Clinic was held in conjunction with the SGTC Homecoming, Alumni, and Sophomore Day celebration. Approximately 500 individuals came out and enjoyed the event which featured a free Hamburger and Hot Dog luncheon provided by the Americus – Sumter County Chamber of Commerce and Imerys as well as basketball games against the Albany Technical College Titans and Lady Titans. Alumni from at least five of the last seven decades attended the event.
