The South Georgia Technical College Horticulture program teamed up recently with the SGTC Office of Student Affairs for an event to celebrate Earth Day. Students, faculty and staff at SGTC had the opportunity to plant a tree and enjoy free snacks and drinks.

For the past 50 years, Earth Day has been celebrated by billions of people around the globe, annually every April 22, to join together in promoting awareness for the health of our environment. Small actions like picking up litter or planting a tree can add up to a tremendous positive impact on the planet.

The tree-planting effort for Earth Day was also an opportunity to raise awareness of SGTC’s Horticulture program, which prepares graduates for a variety of positions related to landscape design, installation, and management.

The Office of Student Affairs at South Georgia Technical College offers an array of activities for students on campus to enjoy the complete college experience and broaden their horizons.

South Georgia Technical College offers over 200 programs leading to a degree, diploma, or technical certificate of credit. Hands-on, technical education at SGTC prepares graduates for employment in the workforce in less time and without the burden student debt.
