The Criminal Justice Technology advisory committee at South Georgia Technical College recently met in the Criminal Justice classroom on the Americus campus to review program updates and discuss developments within the field.

Criminal Justice Technology instructors Teresa McCook and Wanda Bishop provided committee members with updates on enrollment, curriculum changes, community involvement, and student achievements. The meeting offered an opportunity for industry representatives to share feedback and insights to help strengthen the program.

Advisory committee members contributed valuable input on potential curriculum improvements, new training opportunities, emerging technologies in the criminal justice field, and employment and internship prospects for students. They also discussed salary expectations for graduates entering the workforce.

Members present at the meeting were Eva Bass of SOWEGA Victims, Warden Jimmy Colson of the Sumter County Correctional Institute, Officer Lamekia Green, recruiter at GDC-Macon State Prison, and Sumter County Sheriff Eric Bryant. Representing SGTC were Academic Dean Brett Murray, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grant Coordinator Katrice Martin, Law Enforcement Academy Administrative Assistant Melissa Grantham, and Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Melissa Hollis.

Advisory committees play an essential role in connecting the college with industry professionals, helping instructors stay informed about changes in technology and workplace expectations so students are well prepared for careers after graduation.
