The South Georgia Technical College Allied Health Advisory Committee met recently on the Cordele campus to discuss program updates and current trends in the healthcare field.

Advisory committees play a key role in supporting continuous improvement at SGTC. LPN Instructor Kelly Northern, Medical Assisting Instructor Carol Cowan, and CNA Instructor Janice Wiseman provided members with updates on curriculum changes, enrollment, community engagement, and student achievements.

Committee members offered valuable insight on curriculum enhancements, emerging technologies, training opportunities, and employment prospects for graduates—including expected salary ranges. Their input helps SGTC align its medical programs with workforce needs and better prepare students for successful careers.

Participants included Cassandra Bellamy (Crisp Regional Hospital/ER), Jonathan Hobgood (Crisp Regional Hospital/HR), and David Edwards (Crisp County EMS). SGTC representatives in attendance were Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs Michelle McGowan, WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai, and Alecia Pinckney, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

The committee serves as a vital connection between the college and the industry, ensuring that SGTC graduates enter the workforce with relevant, up-to-date skills.
