A group of students from Americus Sumter High School (ASHS) dually enrolled in the South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Culinary Arts program recently had the opportunity to visit Ruby Tuesday restaurant in Americus.

For the students, the trip was an opportunity to experience fine dining and grade the hospitality of the restaurant. The ASHS students will also earn a grade based on their contact on the trip.

SGTC Adjunct Culinary Arts instructor Corcynthia Monts said the experience was designed to help the students understand that culinary arts is about more than the food itself: hospitality, presentation, and service are also important.

SGTC’s dual enrollment program gives high school students the opportunity to get a head start by earning college credit while still in high school.
