Fifteen South Georgia Technical College faculty members recently received Blackboard online training from Annelise Berger, Training Coordinator of the Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) Georgia Virtual Technical Connection (GVTC). Berger was on site at SGTC’s Americus campus and conducted a two day training session for GVTC’s Blackboard online learning interface. The training session will prepare SGTC full-time and adjunct faculty members to teach fully online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses.     “This is our second semester in the new online learning management system,” said SGTC Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Andrea Oates. “Instructors have elected to participate in the certificated onsite training to better serve the flexible needs of our student population.”   To date, a total of 50 full-time and adjunct South Georgia Technical College instructors have either completed an onsite training course for Blackboard or taken the Bb Essentials course online. Online learning at SGTC currently consists of almost 20 fully online courses with a host of hybrid and web-enhanced courses that serve over 300 SGTC students this semester.     “First and foremost, we’re about our students at SGTC,” said SGTC President Dr. John Watford. “We hope to continuously increase the number of online course offerings in order to better serve our students and the busy lives they lead.”   Fall semester at South Georgia Technical College starts Monday, August 15, 2016.
