The Industrial Programs Advisory Council of South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) convened recently at the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center on the Americus campus. The meeting focused on SGTC’s Electronics, Industrial/Electrical Systems Technology, Precision Machining and Manufacturing, and Welding programs.

Advisory councils at SGTC play a vital role in guiding and supporting program personnel and the college in preparing students to meet the needs of businesses and industries in the local area and beyond. Serving as a crucial link between the college and the workplace, these councils help ensure that SGTC remains responsive to the evolving demands of the industry.

Council members are drawn from local businesses and industries with a direct stake in the programs they advise. Their voluntary contributions of time and expertise help SGTC stay informed about the ongoing changes and developments in the workplace, ultimately benefiting both students and the wider community.

Advisory council members attending the meeting were: Gabriel Hilliard, Michael Jakulski, and Chet Ragsdale of Imerys; Bryan McMichael of Parker’s Heating and Air; Josh Strange of Ramtec; and Hunter Clements of Truman AC and Heating.

Representing SGTC at the meeting were: Dr. David Finley, Academic Dean; Brad Aldridge, Welding Instructor; Ted Eschmann, Welding Instructor; Mike Collins, Electronics Instructor; Johnny Griffin, Air Conditioning Instructor; Patrick Owen, Industrial and Electrical Systems instructor, and Katrice Martin, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator.
