SGTC Library Advisory Committee Discusses Support Strategies for Student Success
The Library Advisory Committee at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently convened on the Americus campus to explore new ways the college library can enhance support for students and academic programs. Librarian Allyson King led the meeting, which focused on aligning library services with the evolving educational needs of SGTC’s diverse technical and academic offerings.
Committee members in attendance included Dr. Ellen Cotter, Psychology Professor at Georgia Southwestern State University; Dr. Deo Cochran-Sherrod, retired; and SGTC faculty and staff representatives Mary Cross, Marketing Instructor; Katrice Martin, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator; and Alecia Pinckney, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The group discussed strategies to expand access to resources, integrate new technologies, and foster greater student engagement with library services.
Advisory committees like this one provide essential insights into industry and academic trends, ensuring that SGTC programs and services remain responsive and relevant. By keeping pace with changes in the workplace and educational environment, the college is better equipped to prepare students for success after graduation.
