SGTC Nail Tech Program Holds Design Competition for Students

South Georgia Technical College Nail Technology instructor Jessakeetha Maddox hosted the program’s inaugural Nail Tech Competition recently, bringing together 14 talented students for a showcase of skill, creativity, and professionalism on the Americus campus.

“All of the students are winners in my eyes,” said Maddox. “They’ve worked hard, and today was a celebration of how far they’ve come. But like any competition, the judges had to make some tough decisions.”

The top honors went to Brittany Moreno of Americus, who earned first place. Viveca Jones of Ellaville took second, followed by Chelsey Harvey of Americus in third and Evelyn Morgan of Americus in fourth.

The event gave students a chance to demonstrate a wide range of techniques they’ve learned through the Nail Technology program, which prepares them for careers in the fast-growing beauty and wellness industry.

Maddox expressed her gratitude to the panel of judges, which included Makeithia Lyles, Katherine Recker, Kennedy Smith, and Teshaunna Twiggs. “We truly appreciate them taking time out of their day to support and evaluate our students. Their feedback helps reinforce the real-world standards we teach in the classroom.”

South Georgia Technical College’s Nail Technology program continues to offer hands-on training in a full-service salon environment.
