SGTC PBL Americus campus chapter has successful Season of Giving

South Georgia Technical College’s Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Americus campus chapter had its annual Season of Giving over the holidays. PBL members collected food items, Trauma Bears, and Toys for Tots for the community.

PBL’s Season of Giving is an annual series of fundraisers to help individuals in the community who are in need. The Season of Giving was a success with a total of 1,201 non-perishable food items donated to Harvest of Hope, 123 stuffed animals donated to the local fire department, and 20 toys to the local Department of Family and Children Services. Since the first Season of Giving in 2014, a total of 2,358 non-perishable food items, 414 stuffed animals, and 116 Toys for Tots have been donated.

SGTC’s academic programs were recognized for contributing to The Season of Giving. Each first place program received a trophy, and the top three contributors received a certificate. The Food Drive results were: Culinary Arts, first place with 653 items; Heavy Equipment Dealers Service Technology, second place and General Core, third place. Honorable mentions included Air Conditioning Technology, Aviation, Barbering, Business/Computer programs, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice Technology, Early Childhood Care and Education, Hicks Hall staff, Odom Center staff, and Practical Nursing. The Trauma Bear results were: Early Childhood, first place with 46 items; Criminal Justice Technology, second place and Air Conditioning Technology, third place. Honorable Mentions included Aviation, Business/Computer programs, Heavy Equipment Dealers Service Technology, Cosmetology and Odom Center staff. Toys for Tots results were: Heavy Equipment Dealers Service Technology, first place with 10 items; Odom Center staff, second place, and Aviation, third place. Honorable mentions included Business/Computer programs.
