SGTC PBL recognized nationally for excellence
South Georgia Technical College’s (SGTC) Americus campus chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) was recently recognized for its achievements over the past year both statewide and nationally. The chapter received the Outstanding Chapter distinction at the PBL National Leadership Conference (NLC) and Gold Seal Chapter at the Georgia PBL State Leadership Conference. In order to be recognized for these honors, the chapter had to meet a certain number of criteria, including community service projects, the Annual Business Report, membership and participation, promotion, fundraising, and professional development. SGTC PBL members from both the Americus campus chapter and Crisp County Center chapter attended the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, where together they brought home a total of six awards and distinctions. The two chapters also earned over 20 awards and distinctions at the state level conference. The advisor for the Americus chapter of PBL is Dr. Andrea Oates, and the PBL co-advisor is Donna Lawrence. Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) are the largest business career student organizations in the world. The FBLA high school division has 215,000 members while the post-secondary division reaches over 11,000 college students. Phi Beta Lambda allows students to build a portfolio of documented accomplishments as a complement to their academic experience. The organization helps develop leadership, communication, and team skills that can be applied in the business setting. SGTC will register for fall semester on Thursday, August 11th. Fall semester begins Monday, August 15th.
