SGTC Practical Nursing graduates recognized at pinning ceremony

Thirteen South Georgia Technical College Practical Nursing graduates participated in a nurse pinning ceremony held recently in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center on the Americus campus.
The graduates included Clint Anthony of Ellaville, Nicole Bryant of Montezuma, Hayleigh Cromer of Americus, Emilee Driver of Americus, Summer Driver of Americus, Racaya Jackson of Americus, Linsey Jennings of Plains, Calandra Jowers of Plains, Nayana Jowers of Americus, Brian Ogletree of Americus, Ansley Ragan of Americus, Quatara Smith of Montezuma and Maranda Waters of Americus.
Tammi Johnston, Manager of Obstetrics-Nursery at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, was the guest speaker for the pinning ceremony, in which graduates received their SGTC nursing pins and participated in a lamp lighting ceremony.
Graduate Nayana Jowers led the ceremony attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance as well as an invocation. Racaya Jackson introduced guest speaker Tammie Johnston, and Hayleigh Cromer led the graduates in the recitation of the Nurse’s Pledge and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Clint Anthony closed the program with the benediction.
These students are now eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN state board exams to become official Licensed Practical Nurses. The exam consists of 85 to 205 questions and tests all areas in the nursing profession to assure practical nurses have obtained the knowledge to practice safely in clinical settings.

South Georgia Technical College is currently registering students for fall semester on both the Americus and Crisp County Center campuses, which begins Monday, August 14th, 2017. There will be a registration and orientation session on Thursday, August 10th, 2017.
