The South Georgia Technical College Americus Student Government Association (SGA) met recently to begin the process to elect officers for the 2017 – 2018 year.  South Georgia Technical College Director of Career Services and SGTC Math Instructor and SGA advisor Chester Taylor met with the 23 students in attendance.

The SGA is a student-run organization that consists of a student representative from each SGTC program area.  The SGA has four openings for officer positions which include a President, Vice President, Secretary and Parliamentarian/Reporter. Each officer position holds specific responsibilities and duties that help the student organization function. Elected officers will serve a one-year term.

Interested students volunteered for the positions and will go through an interview process with SGA advisors and South Georgia Technical College staff members. To be considered for the positions, students must reflect that they have leadership capabilities and a commitment to the organization.

Officers will be announced soon and have the opportunity to attend a one-day leadership retreat in the John M. Pope Technology Center on the main campus in Americus.  For more information about SGA, please contact Cynthia Carter, Director of Career Services at 229-931-2057 or at ccarter@southgatech.edu.
