South Georgia Technical College sophomore women’s basketball player Shaineequah (Shay) Fluellyn, a 5’7” shooting guard from Molena, has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career as a Lady Pacer at the University of South Carolina Aiken.

SGTC Lady Jets Head Coach James Frey and Assistant Coach Kezia Conyers were on hand for the signing and offered their support. “Shay carried us when we went through a string of injuries the second half of the season,” said Frey. “She scored 32 points in our conference tournament championship game and was the tournament MVP.

“More than those basketball accomplishments, Shay is incredibly loyal and dedicated to treated the people around her like they’re all family,” continued Frey. “She was a joy to coach and there aren’t enough positive things to say about Shay. USC Aiken got a great one.”

Fluellyn and the 2016-2017 Lady Jets traveled to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national tournament in Lubbock, Texas earlier this year, where they made it to the Sweet 16. She was also chosen as the Lady Jets MVP for the season, and was named to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) 2nd Team All Conference and NJCAA Region 17 Tournament MVP. She graduated from SGTC with her Associate of Applied Science degree in Sports and Fitness Management.
