South Georgia Tech recognizes employees with over 1,222 years of service to students

South Georgia Technical College recognized 74, or almost half of its full-time employees who have been employed by the college for longer than 10 years during its annual employee Christmas luncheon which was hosted in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center recently.
“It is my great honor to recognize the outstanding administrators, faculty and staff who have served South Georgia Technical College for 10 years or more,” said South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford. “The employees recognized today have contributed 1,222 years of service to South Georgia Technical College and its students. We are extremely fortunate to have individuals that believe in technical education enough to dedicate their careers to training the workforce of today and tomorrow.”
Each employee with 10 to 19 years of service was presented with a 2” X 2” marble paperweight with the college’s name and 10 years of service engraved into the marble. The individuals with 20 years or more received a larger marble paperweight with the college’s name and 20 or 30 years of service. Each employee also received a certificate for five years and 15 years of service, if applicable.
Only one employee had 30 or more years of service and that award was presented to Rick Davis, the college’s Heavy Equipment Dealer’s Service Technology instructor. He has been with the college for a total of 31 years as a diesel or heavy equipment technology instructor.
Fourteen individuals have worked at South Georgia Tech for 20 years of longer. The individuals with 20 or more years of service along with their actual years at the college include: Annita Carter Barron, 27; Sara Ann Benson, 22; Brenda H. Boone, 22; Mark Brooks, 29; Glynn Cobb, 20; Linda P. Edge, 25; Randall E. Greene, 22; Warren F. Hodges, Jr., 27; Teresa B. Jolly, 28; Deborah Williams Jones, 22; Karen S. Lewis, 26; Kim Gordon Miller, 24; President John Watford, 26; Jeff Wiseman 22; and Angela Tannett Wright, 22 years.
Fifty-nine employees were recognized for having worked at South Georgia Tech for 10 to 19 years. Those individuals and their actual years of service include: Michael Atkins, 19; Vickie H.
