South Georgia Technical College to have on-site registration team in Marion County on Thursday, August 17th

South Georgia Technical College will be in Marion County on August 17th to register students for college classes in Marion County. Now is a great time to “Take Off With South Georgia Technical College” and sign up for classes fall semester in Marion County.

BUENA VISTA, GA – It is not too late to sign up for college classes in Marion County. South Georgia Technical College and Marion County School System employees, and community leaders have scheduled a college registration session in Buena Vista for Thursday, August 17th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Marion County Performing Arts Center (Old Middle School location in Buena Vista) at 100 Burkhalter Avenue.
this summer as part of an effort to provide greater access to college courses and workforce development options to the citizens of Marion County and surrounding counties.
The South Georgia Technical College registration team will be at the registration site to help students with the admissions and financial aid processes. The $25 application fee will be waived for individuals who apply for Fall Semester on August 17th. Classes will start in Buena Vista on August 21st.
Potential students can choose to register for the over 200 associate degree, diploma or technical certificate of credit classes that are offered on the Americus campus or sign up for the two classes that will be offered in Marion County this fall at the Burkhalter location. The two classes offered this fall in Marion County will be an Employability class to help individuals learn the skills needed to get and keep a job as well as skills that will help career advancement. The second class will be an introduction to college and computer class which will provide individuals with the skills needed to be successful in college and in today’s technological society.
The Marion County School System has agreed to provide classroom space in the old middle school building at 100 Burkhalter Avenue in Buena Vista for South Georgia Technical College to offer classes to the community. South Georgia Technical College has committed to provide the instructors and also send a registration team to the community to help individuals apply, enroll, and fill out financial aid forms to begin their journey for careers of a lifetime.

Fall semester classes at South Georgia Technical College in Americus and Cordele begin Monday, August 14th. Financial aid options are available including the HOPE Grant, HOPE Scholarship and PELL grant. Hope Career Grants, formerly the Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grants (SIWDG), offer up to an extra $1000 are available to HOPE grant eligible students in the programs of study including: Commercial Truck Driving, Diesel Equipment Technology, Early Childhood Care/Education, Electronics Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Networking Specialist, Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy Technician, Practical Nursing, and Welding and Joining Technology. SGTC also offers textbooks at no cost to students.
South Georgia Technical College was recently ranked as the top community college in Georgia for 2017 by two different organizations. SGTC’s Practical Nursing program was also recently ranked among the top five in Georgia.
