Three SGTC Students Set to Compete at National SkillsUSA Championships in Atlanta

Three students from South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) will represent the college at the prestigious SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC) in Atlanta, June 23–27, 2025.

Hayden Tucker of Thomaston, A’Neya Mack of Plains, and Blake Archer of Palm Harbor, Florida, earned gold medals in their respective categories at the Georgia state competition and have advanced to compete against the nation’s best.

Tucker claimed top honors in Aviation Maintenance, while Mack won gold in Technical Computer Applications. Archer took first place in the CNC 3-Axis Milling competition. All three students will now put their skills to the test on the national stage at one of the country’s largest showcases of career and technical education excellence.

SkillsUSA’s NLSC is a week-long event that brings together more than 17,500 participants, including over 6,500 student champions from across the U.S., to compete in 114 skilled and leadership contests. The conference also features seminars, leadership development activities, a nationwide career expo, and networking opportunities with industry professionals and employers.

“These students have already demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication by winning at the state level,” said SGTC President Dr. John Watford. “We’re proud to have them represent South Georgia Technical College and look forward to seeing them bring home the gold at nationals.”

SkillsUSA is a national organization that connects students, educators, and industry partners to ensure a skilled workforce. Students from middle school through college compete in a range of technical and leadership categories that reflect in-demand careers across the country. Only first-place state winners earn the right to advance to the national level.
