Twelve graduates of the South Georgia Technical College Crisp County Center Practical Nursing program received their nursing pins in a recent ceremony in the LaPorte Auditorium on the Crisp County Center campus. A crowd of family, friends, administrators, and instructors attended the event to show their support as the students participated in the traditional pinning ritual.

SGTC President Dr. John Watford and SGTC Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs Michelle McGowan welcomed those in attendance and thanked everyone for their support of the graduates.  Practical Nursing instructor Kelly Northern was the guest speaker and provided a class overview. A slideshow presentation featuring the students over the course of their studies in the program was also shown.

Reverend Isaac Owens (father of student Ayesha Owens) provided the invocation for the event.  SGTC Crisp County Center Practical Nursing Instructor Kelly Northern and SGTC Americus campus Practical Nursing Instructor Jennifer Childs presided over the pinning of graduates. Nursing tradition allows the graduates to choose someone special in their lives to present their nursing pins and all chose to do so.

During the pinning of graduates, Jennifer Childs and fellow Practical Nursing instructor Kelly Northern called each member of the class to the stage individually to receive their pin and a rose.  This event was followed by the Lighting of the Lamps and the Nursing Pledge.

Graduates receiving their pins were Tamaya Fullwood, Kiauna Jones, Tionne Martin, Kamryn Nation, Riliyah Odoms, Ayesha Owens, Joyce Phillips, Dakedra Rasberry, Ashley Rhodes, Lily Sheppard, Beverly Stewart and Kahdajah Wilson.
