Jets defeat Southern Crescent in GCAA conference game

The South Georgia Technical College Jets overpowered the Southern Crescent Tigers, 86 – 58 in a Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) conference match-up and moved into a tie for 4th place in the conference standings.
The Jets are now 2 – 2 in the GCAA and 6 – 12 overall. Central Georgia Tech is the only unbeaten team in the Division 1 men’s GCAA standings with a 4 – 0 record. South Georgia State College is currently second at 4 – 1 and Albany Tech is in 3rd place with a 3 – 2 record.
South Georgia Technical College and Andrew College are currently tied for fourth place with identical 2 – 2 records. Gordon and East Georgia State College are tied for sixth place with 2 – 3 records, followed by Georgia Highlands in eighth place at 1 – 3 and Southern Crescent Tech in ninth place at 0 – 4.
Sophomore guard Jalexs Ewing from Augusta led the Jets in scoring with 21 points. He was joined in double-digits by Guillaume Schoentgen, a freshman wing from Germany, who came away with 19 points and eight rebounds and sophomore Center Matt Mbole from Cameroon, who had a double-double night with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Sophomore forward Marc Ferdy accounted for nine points, freshman point guard Clark Mastin from Conyers tossed in seven points and freshman guard Frankie Raines from Oglethorpe and sophomore guard Ilich Yacaman from Orlando added six points each. Noa Istrefi and Jarius Davis closed out the scoring with four and two points respectively.
The Jets and the Lady Jets will travel to Cuthbert Saturday for a double-header with Andrew College. The Lady Jets open at 1 p.m. and the Jets will follow at 3 p.m. The Lady Jets will then travel to East Georgia state College on Monday, January 26th for a 5:30 p.m. game and the Jets will host Georgia Highland College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
