GPB Day of Discovery set for June 12th at SGTC Crisp County Center campus

“Ignite My Future in School – Day of Discovery” will be held at the South Georgia Technical College Crisp County Center Campus at 402 N. Midway Road in Cordele on Tuesday, June 12th from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event is a customized in-person professional development experience sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services, Discovery Education and Georgia Public Broadcasting.
The free Day of Discovery professional development event is designed to connect fellow educators and equip participants with tools needed to start incorporating the skills associated with computational thinking into classroom learning activities. A special keynote speaker will discuss “Computational Thinking Alive in My Classroom.”
Other sessions will feature a “Dive into Ignite My Future Site,” “SOS Strategy, Building Community, and Action Planning,” “Model Lessons,” and “Reflection and Closure Activity.” Breakout sessions on mixed content areas for mixed grade levels will also be held. Teachers will have the opportunity to work in small, subject area groups to explore, test, learn, engage, and ask questions from a Discovery Professional Development expert.
