South Georgia Technical College hosted a lunch and learn session for business and industry leaders to identify improvement tools to help them solve problems and grow their businesses. The event was held in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center on the Americus campus.
Approximately 40 individuals from the surrounding area participated in the event that was led by Tony Swaim, Performance Improvement Advisor to industries in Georgia and throughout the United States.
The event was sponsored by the South Georgia Technical College Economic Development office and the Sumter County Development Authority. The lunch and learn session helped business and industry leaders identify opportunities to improve quality, identify areas in supply chains that can return immediate improvements, presented project management techniques that can empower teams and improve results; and presented knowledge about tools and best practices in lean problem-solving.
Individuals were also given the opportunity to ask questions about the different presentations. South Georgia Technical College Vice President of Economic Development Wally Summers and members of his group will be coordinating follow-up meeting with business and industry representatives that attended the informative lunch and learn session.
