SGTC Jets fall to Albany Tech Titans 68-61

The season came to a disappointing conclusion for the South Georgia Technical College men’s basketball team. The SGTC Jets fell to the Albany Tech Titans by a final score of 68-61 in the NJCAA Region XVII semifinal game March 15 on the campus of Albany State University.

After finishing the regular season with a solid 18-12 overall record including 11-5 in conference play, the Jets won their quarterfinal matchup to advance to the semifinals. Against Albany Tech, though, poor shooting from the floor left the Jets trailing early. The Jets managed only 35% field goal shooting including just 25% from three-point range, while Albany Tech converted 44% overall and shot 50% from three-point range.

The Jets overcame a double-digit deficit to trail by just seven at halftime. In the second half, the team’s shooting improved, but they were only able to keep pace with Albany Tech and never took the lead .

For the Jets, Deonte Williams led the scoring with 15 points. Camarion Johnson and Vaughn Prosser followed with 12 points each. Also scoring for the Jets were Kameron Foman (7 points), Justin Evans (5), Ryan Djoussa (4), Jaylen Woods (3), Jafeth Martinez (2), and Israel Momodu (1). Johnson converted two three-point tries, while Evans and Woods each converted one.
