South Georgia Technical College’s Crisp County Center Student Government Association (SGA) helped welcome students back to class as part of a monthly What’s Poppin’ in Student Activities social event in January. The students enjoyed popcorn and tea and received the Spring Semester Student Activity Calendar.

The calendar lists all the upcoming activities for the different student organizations on campus. What’s Poppin’ in Student Activities will also be held in February and March. A few of the upcoming activities on the Crisp County Center campus include:

  • Valentine’s Day dinner on Tuesday, February 14th at 6:00pm in the LaPorte Auditorium
  • Black History Month program on Wednesday, February 15th at 11:00am in the LaPorte Auditorium
  • Georgia Arbor Day tree planting on Thursday, February 16th at 9:00am in the back parking lot of the Crisp County Center
  • Mardi Gras Tune Trivia contest on Monday, February 27th at 10:30am
  • Time and Stress Management Workshop on Tuesday, February 28th at 10:00am

Other upcoming activities will include a Spring Fling on March 14th, a scavenger hunt April 12, Green Day Campus Clean up April 20th and Relay for Life on May 5th. The campus is hosting an ongoing fundraiser for the Relay for Life, which includes a raffle to win a butterfly bench that was hand crafted by the SGTC Welding and Joining Technology department. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Crisp County Center from any student organization member or at the front desk.

The Student Government Association consists of a representative from each program. From the representatives, five officers are selected and serve a one year term. The SGA meets the first Wednesday of every month to approve expenditures of student activity fees, coordinate activities, and address issues of concerns to students.

For more information about any of the upcoming events, or if you’re an SGTC student who would like to join the SGA, please contact SGA Advisor Kari Bodrey at 229.271.4051 or kbodrey@southgatech.edu.
