South Georgia Tech showcases programs at Taylor County Open House

Reynolds, GA – South Georgia Technical College showcased many of its over 200 associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit program offerings at a special open house in Taylor County at the Flint Energies Building in Reynolds recently.
“South Georgia Technical College is an excellent higher educational choice and we are pleased to be able to showcase many of the fine programs that we have available and introduce ourselves to the individuals in Taylor County during this open house setting,” South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford. “Our faculty and staff do an awesome job and we enjoy being able to visit different communities and showcase some of the unique programs that we can provide to individuals seeking to enroll in college for the first time or for those who would like to come back after being out for a while.”
South Georgia Technical College was ranked recently as the 3rd best two-year college in the nation based on quality and affordability. South Georgia Tech was also selected as the best two-year college in Georgia for 2017 twice. “Our mission is workforce development,” explained President Watford. “Our instructors work with business and industry leaders to provide the educational training for individuals to earn the credentials needed to enter the workplace and thrive.”
Some of the programs that were highlighted at the South Georgia Technical College Open House event included: Accounting, Agricultural Technology, Air Conditioning Technology, Business Technology, Computer Information Systems, Criminal Justice Technology, Culinary Arts, Drafting, Early Childhood Care and Technology, Electronics, Heavy Equipment Dealer’s Service Technology, Marketing, Sports and Fitness Management, Aviation and Air Craft Structural, Auto Collision Repair, Automotive Technology, Cosmetology, Diesel Equipment, Commercial Truck Driving, First Science Technology, EMT, Medical Assisting, Nursing, Motorsports Vehicle Technology, Electrical Lineworker, Law Enforcement, and Welding and Joining Technology.
“We have something for almost everyone,” explained Dr. Watford. “We provide general core classes and then we offer the programs that are in high demand for employers around the state.” South Georgia Technical College had its ambulance, Aaron’s Rents 99 Race Care, Commercial Truck Driving rig, and more on displace outside of the Flint Energies Building and then had the entire community room filled with hands-on equipment from other program areas.
Members of the South Georgia Technical College Jets and Lady Jets basketball teams as well as the college mascot, ACE, were on hand at the open house. Popcorn and ice cream were provided as well as South Georgia Tech souvenirs and give-a-ways for the individuals who attended the Open House.
South Georgia Technical College is currently hosting Adult Education and GED training in Taylor County and will be offering criminal justice hybrid courses in Taylor County beginning October 10th. Students can also register for online courses or attend class at the main campus in Americus or on the Crisp County Center campus.
