SGTC Jets defeat Redline Prep, 70 – 64
The South Georgia Technical College Jets managed to come away with a 70 – 64 non-conference victory over Redline Prep Friday night to improve to 8 – 7 overall.
“It was ugly,” said SGTC Jets head coach Chris Ballauer. “We won, but it was not pretty. We have a lot of things to work on before we get back on the court Wednesday when we travel to East Georgia State College in Swainsboro.”
The Jets are currently tied for third place in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) with Georgia Highlands with identical 2 – 1 records. South Georgia State is currently in first place with a 4 – 0 and 13 – 5 record and Albany Tech is in second place with a 3 – 1 and 10 – 8 record this season.
The Jets were up 36 – 35 at half time and outscored Redline Prep 34 – 29 in the second half to take the 70 – 64 victory. Only one starter for the Jets was in double-digits and that was Camarion Johnson, who led the team in scoring with 14 points. Israel Momodu and Jaylen Woods came off the bench for the Jets to score 13 and 11 points respectively. Daryl Bod also came off the bench and tossed in nine points.
The Jets reserves scored 40 of the team’s 70 points. Starter Justin Evans added six points, Mohand Ammad, Ryan Djoussa, and Jafeth Martinez had four points each. Noah Barnett and Harley Kent closed out the scoring with three and two points respectively.
The Jets will travel to Swainsboro on Wendesday, January 24th for a conference match-up with East Georgia State College. The Lady Jets open the double-head at 5:30 with the Jets to follow at 7:30. The Jets and lady Jets return home on Saturday for a conference double-header with Central Georgia Tech at 1 p.m. and at 3 p.m.
